333VoIP Wholesale and Distributionship needs

by jenniferhan, Wednesday 17 of October, 2007 [03:06:02 UTC]
As VoIP business users in Dubai are being blocked. Many users are turning to VPN solutions to allow the ability to use VoIP and get around the current blocking issue. This however is an expensive and unnecessary solution with SpeedVoIP Technology. To resolve this situation, SpeedVoIP has released it's new solution for Voip Blocking called VGCP (VoiceGuard Control Protocol).

In today’s market, VoIP for business has become more and more popular and necessary than ever before.

Dubai has become a big market, many big companies need to open branch offices in the UAE allowing more profit and larger market access. Technology Issues become apparent during this process that can cripple communications for that company. The primary communications issues are with VOIP blocking policies implemented in Dubai.

Now, here is the good news, A Canada based company SpeedVoIP with their integral R&D team have work out a new way to solve this VoIP blocking issue. This new system VGCP (VoiceGuard@ Control Protocol) has now laid the path to streamline low cost telephony solutions removing country limitations.

VGCP is a proprietary layer 2 link protocol working at between IP stack and NIC driver for VoIP anti-blocking. The core patent-pending VGCP is industry's most state-of-art voice service provider class security protocol whose scalability and flexibility results in not to compromise voice quality and overhead. VGCP controls and monitors full voice signalling and media flow intelligently, meanwhile disguises sip and RTP packets into normal allowed data packets such as DNS and TFTP, and makes two-way encryption and decryption driven by user-customized policy. VGCP is fully transparent to upper SIP proxy or UA which means VoiceGuard@ can work with any 3rd party soft phone/ATA/Gateway/IP Phone/IADs and SIP Proxy or Server not like some competitors which take effect on their own device and soft switch.

Korea Telecom has implemented this solution successfully for more than one year. And it has been operational within a group of Dubai companies. The trials and implementations proves that, The VGCP solution is the best solution to solve the VoIP Blocking issue and provides stable communications platforms providing an indispensable part of the business network.

333Warning WRT54GP2-NA

by paco_cotera, Friday 20 of January, 2006 [16:19:22 UTC]
I got one WRT54GP2-NA a few months ago. Previously I had a local SIP server with several SPA2000 attached via LAN, I decided to go wireless and get rid of the extra devices and cabling. BIG MISTAKE

The router would freeze and lock the WAN port every few days requiring to powercycle to solve the problem. Wireless network goes up and down all the time and won't let a wireless card reconnect if the connection is dropped (Using WPA-PSK) WEP works fine.

Then configuring the VoIP was a nightmare, first the FXS ports can't see the local SIP Server, I had to move the server to a remote location and access it via the WAN port, no way to make it work local, I opened a troubleticket at linksys 1 month ago and still no solution, CSR's either don't care or lack some serious trainning. They answer with canned responses that are of no use.

- "its a config issue, we don't have config support",
- "yes, router can connect to local network",
- "you can't connect ethernet to a voip port".

Probably a solution would be setting some static routes however I'm tired of hacking this device and I think I'll just go back with my g'ol Sipura Adapters and a standard wireless access point

333Re: Re: SPA2000 firmware on PAP2?

by rcilink, Wednesday 24 of August, 2005 [21:29:00 UTC]
To 'un-brick' a PAP2 that has talked to vonage, do this:
1. disconnect network cable
2. plug in a phone in port 1
3. pick up phone and repeatedly hit the * key. (50 times or so it feels).
4. Eventually you will hear beeps, noises, possible SIT junk.. keep hitting * until you hear the sipura IVR.
5. now, at the IVR, dial 73738# for the password, dial 8995523# (if that password does not work, try 7756112#). press 1 to confirm.
6. hang up phone. Unit will reset (watch LEDs)
DONT hook the network cable up yet!
7. Now, you need to dial **** to get to the IVR again
8. dial 160# . did it read back your DNS server? (you know, the one that has ls.tftp.vonage.net mapped to your TFTP server)
9. If the DNS is not your DNS server, enter 161# and then the ip address of your DNS server. (use the * key for a . )

once this is done, you should be able to plug it in to the net. It would not hurt to isolate your network (unhook the cable modem/dsl link) and use a web browser to connect to the PAP2 and delete the second DNS entry..

you can dial **** then 110# to find out your IP address of the PAP2.

One more thing to note: it is possible that if you have firmware 2.0.9 loaded, you can send an XML to the device to unlock it. Anyone got the 2.0.9 firmware to give us? If so, post a link to it please!

Which firmware are your trying upload ?

I have a PAP2-NA and Linksys have not released any updates for the PAP2-NA. Unless someone knows how to extract the firmware from the PAP2-NA.

The firmware is listed as: 2.0.10(LSc)

333How to upgrade firmware

by dx, Saturday 21 of May, 2005 [05:40:17 UTC]
I've just found a way to upgrade (or downgrade) the firmware on the PAP2, however it doesn't help at all, as the config set by vonage is still read and used. In any case, here we go:

1. Don't let your PAP2 connect to the net. If you do, it will connect to Vonage, grab it's defualt config file, and lock out the web interface.
2. Go to the PAP2's web interface (plentry of instructions on how to determine the unit's IP, simply visit that)
3. Set a user password
4. Visit http://{PAP2 IP ADDRESS}/upgrade?{URL}
(){URL} can be an http:// of tftp:// address pointing to the .bin firmware
5. You'll be prompted for a username and password, they are:
()Username: user
(:arrow:)Password: {the user password you set earlier}
6. If all goes according to plan, you should see a bunch of activity on the PAP2, it will reset, and when it's up and running again, it will be running the firmware you upgraded or downgraded it to. (You'll need to use the username and password to log back in to the web interface)

Unfortunately, this is the point at which I am stuck. Neither new or old firmware gives me anything new to play with. The admin section is still password protected, and the unit still automatically goes to vonage for config files.

It seems to me that we need to get a .cfg file that isn't MAC adddress specific, and spoof that to the PAP2, or find a way to clear the config memory on the PAP2 (hardware-wise)

In any case, I hope that someone can get somewhere further than me with this info, and if you do, could you please post back here. Thanks.
